Holon 3D engineers use the 3D scanner HL-3DX to obtain 3D data of castings for quality inspection and design modification of castings.
Practical problems
The traditional casting design generally uses three-dimensional engraving and CNC milling machines to make the products in equal proportions. This method cannot establish digital files, and the manual repairing workload is large, and it requires high skills for the workers, which brings great difficulties to the numerical control processing and industrial inspection of the later castings.
Holon solutions

3D scanning of castings
The use of the three-dimensional scanner HL-3DX can obtain high-quality point cloud data of castings, and efficiently assist the reverse engineering design of the mold (the original data of the castings are acquired, a process from the data collection end to the data processing end). The acquired data can also be imported into the inspection software to make accurate quality reports on the deformation and other errors of the casting samples, master detailed three-dimensional inspection results, improve product quality, and facilitate subsequent mass production.
1. Preliminary preparations:
Spray developer and paste marking points
2. Three-dimensional scanning:
Holon 3D engineers use the 3D scanner (HL-3DX) to obtain the 3D data of the casting in all directions. It only takes 10 minutes to obtain the 3D data of the casting, with an accuracy of 0.015mm. The acquired point cloud data of castings has a high density and a good reducibility of detailed features.

3. Three-dimensional inspection:
Import the acquired 3D data of castings into the inspection software Geomagic Qualify, which can quickly detect the difference between the casting (CAD) model and the manufactured part of the product. Geomagic Qualify can show the difference between the two with intuitive and easy-to-understand graphical comparison results.
